Chamonix, also known as Chamonix Mont Blanc, is a small town which can be found on the border between France and Italy. in the heart of the Alps. The town itself holds no more than 12,000 habitants, and looks to winter-sport tourism as its main economic contributor. During the winter months Chamonix lives and breathes skiing and snowboarding, with scores of tourists flocking to the ski resort to take advantage of the fantastic pistes in its close proximity. Chamonix is sitauted in the Rodano Valley which varies in height from 1300 metres to 3790 metres, and is also close to the imposing Mont Blanc peak.
With some of the finest pistes one can find in the Alps, the town attracts thousands of ski enthusiasts each year, all settling in the many holiday accommodations available. With typical alpine houses to the numerous hotels, it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.
